Inspired by The Greatest Showman

Welcome to a night of wonder, courage, and spectacular storytelling! Opera Opera is Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri's grand student production, inspired by the beloved musical film The Greatest Showman. This reimagined performance brings together a brilliant cast of students from elementary to high school, combining acting, music, and dance to present a heartfelt tale of dreams, struggle, redemption, and unity.

This year, our school community embarks on a powerful journey. Opera Opera is more than just a musical, it is a celebration of individuality, resilience, and the beauty of embracing our differences. Through original scenes and dazzling musical numbers, our students explore the pursuit of dreams against all odds.

Synopsis

After facing failure in his career as a journalist, David reinvents himself by starting an opera troupe. He gathers a unique cast of street performers, or badoet badoet, in the vibrant city of Big Heaven. Against mockery and rejection, David and his troupe face the daunting task of winning over an unwelcoming society. Supported by his devoted wife Jeany and their twin daughters, David's unwavering belief in his performers leads to sold-out shows, royal invitations, and fame.

However, success tests David's loyalty, and his rising ambition threatens to tear apart his family and the troupe that made him. With the arrival of the dazzling opera star Shiane Cindy, personal and professional tensions reach a boiling point. Betrayals unfold, dreams are nearly destroyed, and a devastating fire consumes the Opera House.

Yet, in the ashes of tragedy, hope rises. The troupe reunites. Hearts heal. And together, they rebuild what was once lost. The story of Opera Opera is ultimately one of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the enduring power of community.
