International Chemistry Quiz

At Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri (SPM), we believe every student has the potential to achieve excellence, and our students continue to prove this belief true. Recently, five of our high schoolers represented SPM at the International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ), an internationally recognized competition that challenges students to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific knowledge on a global stage.

Representing our Panglima Polim Campus were:

  • Arief (Grade 10)

  • Bella (Grade 9)

  • Abel (Grade 12)

  • Lizzy (Grade 9)

  • Aisha (Grade 12)

Together, they joined more than 100,000 students from 21 countries and regions, making this quiz not only a competition but also an opportunity to connect with a global community of young scientists.

About the ICQ

The International Chemistry Quiz is designed to encourage and inspire students to pursue careers in Chemistry and STEM fields. Open to students from grades 7–12, the quiz provides multiple entry categories based on academic level. Its topics range from basic concepts like mixtures, solutions, and states of matter for younger participants, to advanced studies in atomic models, bonding, equilibrium systems, organic chemistry, and analytical techniques for senior students.

Awardees in the ICQ are even eligible for the ICQ Asia Camp 2026 in China, where top achievers from around the world will gather for an immersive scientific experience.

A Journey of Growth and Leadership

For Arief, Bella, Abel, Lizzy, and Aisha, participation in the ICQ was about more than just chemistry. Preparing for the quiz meant strengthening skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance—qualities that reflect the values of the 7 Habits and the principles of The Leader in Me. Through their hard work, they embraced the challenge of solving problems that required both knowledge and creativity.

We are proud of the progress they have made and the example they set for the entire SPM community. Their achievement reinforces our commitment to providing meaningful opportunities that inspire students to step outside their comfort zones and strive for excellence.

Congratulations to Arief, Bella, Abel, Lizzy, and Aisha for boldly representing SPM at the International Chemistry Quiz. You are a true reflection of our belief that every student has the ability to find their voice and unleash their potential.
